What is Adopt A Room?
For those who sign up to adopt a room, they will be provided with a list of items and their quantities that are needed.
Units Available to AdoptRooms to adopt are by unit size and type. Since our units range from studio to 3-bedroom apartments, each household will have different needs. Our lists break down units into small, medium, and large units. Room types available to adopt are bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchens.
The estimated cost to adopt a room is as follows. (Note that smaller units may be less expensive to shop for than larger units, depending on what items you purchase and from where.)
- Bathroom: $200-300
- Kitchen: $400-$800
- Bedroom: $400-$1000

Since the COVID-19 pandemic continues to make it harder to go out and shop, we have created Amazon lists for the items that can purchased for our rooms! For those of you working as a group to donate items, you can share these lists with your group to make coordinating purchases easier. Items on the lists are suggestions. You are welcome to buy items that are not on these lists.
Other Ways to SupportWant to support our Adopt A Room campaign but not able to buy all the individual items? You can make a monetary donation here. All monetary donations marked for Adopt A Room will be used to purchase any additional items that tenants need and/or fill in rooms that are not adopted.
You can also donate gift cards (Visa, Target, Fred Meyer, Walmart, etc.) that tenants can use to purchase items for themselves that they may not receive in the adopt a room program.
DeadlineAll items for Adopt A Room must arrive at the YWCA Pierce County by February 12th.
