Support Survivor Services

Thank you to everyone who sent emails to legislators, made phone calls, and advocated for victim services funding. Our voices made a difference.

 

In addition to the funding for victim services, there is also funding included for services addressing domestic violence, including:

• $4 million for grants to county prosecutors’ offices to support victim and witness advocates and related services.

• $350,000 for research on the use of Internal Family Systems as a modality for domestic violence treatment.

• $400,000 for a randomized control trial comparing the Strength at Home program to standard domestic violence intervention treatment methods.

• $250,000 for the development of instructional courses related to providing peer support services to victims of certain crimes.

We started with $12 million in the Governor’s proposed budget which would have caused severe cuts to funding and putting necessary services at risk for survivors such as safe shelter, housing, support groups, children's programming, counseling services, and more.  Ultimately, we received our full funding request. That outcome is directly because of the advocacy from this field and is a true testament and demonstration of the legislator’s commitment to this work.
