About Counseling

one on one counseling.jpg

Our licensed therapists offer individual and family counseling to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Counseling is a safe space created by a therapeutic relationship between a client and a licensed counselor. This is a space to provide opportunities for clients to discuss personal concerns and begin to develop new strategies to approach life or gain insight to oneself.

We offer individual adult, individual children, and family therapy. Our therapists are trained in multiple modalities designed to process and heal from trauma, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy and STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation).

Counseling FAQ

  • How much does counseling cost? Do you require insurance? Counseling is currently free of charge, and we do not currently require any insurance.

  • Are sessions virtual or can I come in person? We offer both virtual and in-person services.

  • Do you provide medication management, mental health evaluations, Reunification Therapy, or Domestic Violence Evaluations? No, we do not provide any of these services. We can support with recommendations to other providers.

  • Do you work with kids? Yes, we see kids although there are different rules and laws and so we would need to work with you to ensure that we can see your children. If we are not able to, we can provide recommendations to other clinics.

  • Who do you not serve? We do not work with couples or perpetrators of Domestic Violence.

  • Are counseling sessions at the YWCA confidential? Counselors are legally obligated to protect client's personal information from being disclosed to unauthorized individuals. There are circumstances a counselor is obligated to break confidentiality, such as mandated reporting. This is discussed with the counselor during the first session.
