Support a Range of Life-Changing Campaigns

YWCA Pierce County runs year-round campaigns that support survivors of domestic violence and strengthen families in crisis. From emergency shelter and legal advocacy to youth programs, intimate partner domestic violence, and family healing activities, each campaign addresses a unique need in the journey toward safety, stability, and empowerment. When you give to any of our campaigns, you directly fund programs that help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Restoring Dignity

In October 2010, our new domestic violence shelter opened as place of hope, comfort, and healing. The shelter was a beautiful, safe space for those escaping abuse. A group of volunteer designers donated their time and talent, and each one designed a separate unit in the shelter, creating a building full of unique and beautiful spaces for our clients to heal (below are images of the newly designed shelter rooms in 2010). Because of the dignity the shelter provided, it was featured in the Cooper Hewitt Design Smithsonian in NY City. The exhibit, By the People, Designing a Better America, featured a select number of projects throughout the United States.

Now, almost 15 years later, due to limited funding and overwhelming demand, the building has fallen into disrepair with cracked walls, worn flooring, outdated plumbing, and a fading sense of dignity. This shelter has been a lifeline for so many, but now it needs a lifeline of its own. We're raising funds to restore this space to what it once was — a true refuge where survivors and their children can begin again, surrounded by warmth, safety, and the dignity they deserve. Your support can bring beauty, safety, and hope back to these walls.

Our campaign goal is $300,000 which will fund things like:

  • brand-new sturdy furniture

  • new toilets

  • repaired floors

  • painted walls

  • new appliances

  • new blinds

  • deep cleaning services for rooms

  • new hardware

Any additional funds raised will feed a "Future Fund" to be used when repairs are inevitably needed again in the shelter to maintain dignity.

We need your help to bring the YWCA Shelter back to its original luster.

Creating Healthy Memories

Creating Healthy Memories YWCA Pierce County - Kids at Museum with Parent.jpg

In the midst of crisis, quality time can be a powerful path to healing. Our Children’s Program is launching “Creating Healthy Memories” — a campaign that gives parents and their children the chance to laugh, explore, and reconnect.

Your donation directly funds memorable experiences for families, like trips to the Children’s Museum of Tacoma, Point Defiance Zoo, Tacoma Rainiers games, Tower Lanes, Throwing Mud Gallery, and more.

Together, we can make space for joy.
